The Salt Lake Project is a multifaceted artistic production that combines circus arts, music, and cinematography to voice the environmental importance of the Great Salt Lake to Salt Lake City and the surrounding areas. Carina is spearheading the circus part of this production as their co-creator and sister, Briana Gillet, leads the musical aspect of the project. Working with local videography artists, their goal is to spread awareness of the interconnectedness of the arts, and the power of artistic expression in motivating change for the world we live in.

Collaboration between artists of different backgrounds is a focal point of this piece. Combining various artistic mediums including dance, aerial arts, live trumpet, and electronic elements, “Project X” sought to explore the narrative that artists of different mediums have as they create out of ambiguity. It is a testimony to how we perceive our art and ourselves changes the way we interact with all the variables at play in the chaos that creation comes from.

As a multidisciplinary production by Ballet Opera de Guerra, this piece integrated dance, opera, poetry, music, and theater to critically examine the phenomenon of domestic violence and its ramifications within the Salt Lake community. Drawing on Myriam Moscona’s poem “Negro Marfil” and Vivaldi’s Violin and Cello concertos, “Te Vas” investigates the spectrum of empathy and apathy through three iterations of a spousal relationship - highlighting varying emotional responses and their implications for relational dynamics. The production’s in-the-round staging enhances the audience’s engagement with the narrative.
